Is it safe to pressure wash a roof?

No. Pressure washing voids most asphalt shingle warranties and removes granules. Soft washing is the only method approved by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association.

What are those black streaks on my roof?

Gloeocapsa magma. It's a cyanobacteria that feeds on the limestone filler in asphalt shingles. It spreads, and over years it shortens shingle life. Soft washing kills it.

How long do soft-wash results last on a roof?

3-5 years on most North Georgia roofs, depending on tree cover and shade. Heavily shaded roofs see regrowth faster.
